Namaste, I welcome you to this website on Wellness, presented by me, an engineer turned Wellness Volunteer. I was blessed with a delicate health. Therefore, I was required to take medicines from time to time for minor ailments. I also had to face some episodes of ill health at different stages of life, such as an attack of colitis

and a probable diagnosis of Jaundice. {2}
“Necessity is the mother of Invention.” So, I kept on searching for ways to improve health. In the process, I collected a lot of information in my effort to become health-literate. I also met many senior Doctors of Modern Science and Ayurveda. I did get hints and practical advice from them which is invaluable.
I realised that Ayurveda is a holistic science and lays emphasis on preserving and promoting the fitness of healthy individuals besides giving methods for treatment of diseases. Ayurveda aims to achieve a balance in the Doshas, which are the regulatory forces in the body.
Assessment of one’s Constitution (body type) is an important tool provided by Ayurveda. It takes into account the physical, physiological and psychological distinct characteristics of a person. Such an analysis highlights inherent Strengths and Weaknesses of a person, from health point of view. Ayurveda also suggests Opportunities to take care of likely Threats posed by his lifestyle, diet, lack of exercise, seasonal weather changes, mental tensions, etc. Wisdom of Ayurveda,coupled with periodical Pathological and other non-invasive tests and research in Modern Medicine can empower a person to take the reins of his fitness in his own hands.
In one lecture, Dr. H.V. Sardesai, a respected senior physician from Pune and a prolific speaker, put forward his observation, based on nearly 40 years of his practice; that “People fall sick because of ignorance”- they lack ‘knowledge of basics of working of human body and what needs to be done to remain healthy.’
The observation of Dr. H.V. Sardesai sowed the seeds of sharing, the basic principles and requirements of attaining and maintaining good health, in simple words, with common man. I was fortunate to receive whole hearted cooperation and guidance from many of my doctor friends with experience in different streams, in the form of discussions and by reviewing articles written by me. I found it appropriate to present material in the form of a blog supported by audios and videos where possible. Presenting the material in mother tongue of the visitors was possible due to abundant online facilities of translation now available.
I am indebted to the Mentor and Consultant Advisors who guided me throughout my journey of acquiring the necessary knowledge and subsequently putting it in the form of this website. I am also grateful to my late wife Pratibha and all the members of my family who encouraged me and gave moral support throughout my journey of creation of this website.I consider that through this website, I am offering my humble services to the society to spread the message, that it is possible to acquire wellness by being health-literate and investing adequate time and efforts to the cause of personal well-being.
